Lava Hot Chicken

I wont lie, may be one of the best places i ever been too. I started coming here about march-april (when they opened) and I have loved their buttermilk soaked chicken that is some of the best chicken ive ever tried. Ive also had their maple fries and today i had their new chicken and waffles. Their waffles are fluffy and are so sweet, in contrast to the tenderness and savory flavor of the chicken. I would recommend u def get the middle level of spice for it. Amazing place since they opened, Sam is an amazing owner who definitely knows what hes doing. 10/10, please if you are around the area come try this place

What an awesome new local restaurant! Chicken pieces were massive, moist, and covered in an amazing rub. A step way above other chicken places. You get to choose your hot level. I got Hot and it was a perfect heat for someone that likes spicy but not too spicy. The atmosphere was fun with the graffiti walls and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back soon!

We tried this place one evening for dinner, we were greeted as soon as we entered, the cashier was very friendly and helpful. First the 'Tenders' as they call them are huge. My partner and I ordered the 2 piece and it was a lot of food. I tried the hot which was very delicious and my partner got the mild which was very tasty. The Lava Sauce was a spicy Honey Mustard but very different from other Honey Mustard sauces. We also ordered the Maple Waffle Fries which were delicious and would make a great dessert item. Very original and tasty. You order your food at the counter and when it is done they will call you or bring it out to your table. We found the restaurant very clean as were the restrooms. We spoke with the Manager who was very helpful. We will return again and again.

Just had them for lunch today and I will say it’s absolutely delicious! Flavor and heat are on point and the fries were also great. Said it’s their first location and I was surprised just bc how well it’s branded and the style and decoration of the restaurant. Looks like a major chain so props to them for going all in. They use real chicken! The chicken strips are real white meat and big! Don’t be fooled by the spice levels, the heat is there! I usually eat spicy food. Their spice is another level of hot! The fries were nice and crunchy. The service was great! The bathrooms were clean. My husband and I are going back!

Rowlett did not need another fried chicken place. I'll say that again for effect: Rowlett did not need ANOTHER fried chicken place. And yet, this one has earned its stripes. Everything was super fresh, cooked perfectly, and actually kind of innovative. Their dry rub is so unique: kinda zesty, has a dry heat too, like a cross between a cajun flavor, harissa, and typical Nashville hot. Their fries are fantastic! Sooo crispy and fluffy. And the portions are MASSIVE. I was a little turned off by the price until I saw the portions. My god, the loaded fries could have fed my entire family. The owner and his staff are so delightful and chatty, too. Dare I say, we will be back!

Opening day! Lava chicken is an eatery offering chicken tenders, lava chunks (nuggets), and sliders at the spice level you choose including no spice at all. You can order individual items or meals or even loaded fries. Being brand new, naturally, everything was crisp and clean inside the restaurant. They have a self order tablet and a cashier. A few things I noticed when ordering using the self ordering system is that it automatically populates extra pickles, coleslaw, and sauce sides so be wary to deselect those options if you don’t want them and there weren’t any descriptions of the items in the computer so you’ll have to refer to the overhead menu when ordering. After making my selections and paying I was offered a complimentary treat, their “lazy cake.” It’s a mix of a dense brownie, breadsticks, and is chocolate dipped. Today, I ordered their loaded nachos (hot), tenders (hot), and Mac n cheese. The tenders came with sauce, pickles, coleslaw and toast. Their Mac n cheese is your basic Mac n cheese. Their loaded fries is massive. Fries covered with Mac n cheese covered with chicken and pickles and their lava sauce. Yum. I love spicy food but picked hot (medium heat) to get a bar to set. I’d say the heat is medium heat. I enjoyed this visit

Run, don’t walk to this place. Sam, the owner, was extremely kind and welcoming. They had an artist come in from Austin to paint the interior walls and it is a bold statement, creating a cool ambiance. The food is fried in beef tallow, which enhances the flavor of the chicken instead of giving a greasy flavoring. It’s lightly battered which, I love. The french fries are so good! Crispy and lightly dusted with their seasoning. That lava sauce…. OMG, it pairs perfectly with everything. I would’ve liked more coleslaw on the sliders and I think I may advance to hot next time. Mild is perfect, but I think I can go a little hotter. The seasoning makes the chicken so I wouldn’t recommend no seasoning. The desserts (Oreo and espresso) are light and not too sweet. The Oreo is the better of the two but they’re both pretty good. We enjoyed it all and will definitely go back. My son said it’s way better than Dave’s hot chicken! Sam, you’ve got a gem in the making!
